Saturday
An early start for this one - 4.00am as myself and Steve made our way to Dartmoor to pick up John. After a breakfast stop near Bristol it was on to the NEC.
Wow, this show is getting bigger every year we visit!
With a massive Autojumble, Traders village and 6 Halls of glorious Classic cars, there was something for every petrol head. Naturally we headed first to the autojumble, hoping to find those rare parts, then on to the Ford section. As usual there was some great Fords on display with Escorts, Capris, Anglias, Cortinas and most other Fords you could think of, all in stunning condition. One of my favourites however was a rare Ford Pilot, you don't see these every day. Other cars that we loved, a Ferrari Dino, a frogeye Sprite, the big Healey 3000 and the Motor sport hall was very interesting. With so much to see and do, we were glad that we had tickets for Sunday as well. So around 6pm we made our way to our accommodation for the night and some great food with one or two beers!!
Sunday
After a good old English brekky, it was off to the NEC.
Today we planned to revisit our favourite bits (Ford) and end up in the Silverstone Auction. I managed to pick up a 50th anniversary calendar from the Capri Mk1 Owners Club and the MK3 Cortina Club were very helpful to Steve. Once in the Auction, we could see that Fords were still very popular and selling for top money. Capri 280 Brooklands £29,475 – Escort Mexico Mk1 £39,375 – Escort Mexico Mk2 £38,250 – Escort RS Cosworth £60.188. However a Stunning Capri 3.0S in Signal Orange sold for £21,938 – worth slightly more we think, the new owner has a real bargain!
After one last visit to the autojumble for some late bargains, we decided to head home around 4.00pm. We can highly recommend this show and can't wait for next year.
