Wadebridge Wheels Sunday 21st July 2024

The day started out like many other morning does on a car show day; meeting at the Inn For All Seasons! Club members gathered around 8am, and by 8:30am we had 13 members ready to convoy on up to the Royal Cornwall Showground. We stopped and picked up 2 club members on one of the layby's on the new A30 (doesn't that make things quick now!), and later on picked up a handful more nearer Wadebridge. By the time we got to the showground, we had a convoy of around 20 Fords. Getting into the show was nice and easy with lots of marshals guiding us in, it was a very smooth and easy set-up. When we arrived at our pitch, we were told some of our club members were already here - which confused as they were all in our convoy still! It turned out some non-members, but Ford owners, had booked onto the stand not realising it was a club stand. Not to worry though, it just meant for a better display and range of Fords. We got our cars prepped and got the club flags up, and by that time it was 10am and the public gates opened.

A mass of Fords on display!

Some 3,500 members of the public attended, which is just fantastic, and there was roughly 1,000 cars on display - such a credit to Wadebridge Rotary Club who set up the event. Club members enjoyed breakfast from the varying food stands, and then had a wonder around the autojumble and trade stands too. There was a huge variety of clubs attending the show, MG, Rover, Jaguar, Triumph, BMW, the list goes on. There were some extremely tidy cars on display, the standard was set very high this year at Wadebridge Wheels. There was some really beautiful, and varied Fords on display, not just on our stand but throughout the entire showground. A club favourite was this Tickford Capri, running a Rover 3.5 V8. But there were many other impressive cars, including a GT40.

A stunning Tickford Capri.

This awesome GT40 with a bit of history behind it's engine, and its owners.

By the time 4pm came around, a fair few cars had left the showground and the club decided to pack up and head off. It truly was a great day out with our club, meeting new people and showing off our cars! According to Wadebridge Rotary Club's Facebook, they raised some £28,000 which is just brilliant.

Until next time,

Mark
